“Unpretentious, good location, good pool”
January 30, 2012 - London, United Kingdom
Clean, comfortable, everything worked, quiet location Pretty surroundins. Would go again.
“Another wonderful week”
Novemebr 29, 2011 - Ottawa, Ohio
This was our second visit to the Tradewinds Resort and it was just as great
as the first.I think the property looks every bit as good as the pictures.
The staff keeps the rooms and grounds immaculate, and they are so friendly.
As a matter of fact,we could not believe how friendly everyone we met on the
island was.Must be something in the water.
On the first day there,David, the president of Tradewinds showed us his restaurant
in progress at the Tortuga Inn (Tradewinds sister resort a couple of properties to
the south) It is going to be called "Le Petite Cafe by Island Creperies"
Island Creperies is a popular french restaurant on Bridge Street. They are also
going to have wine and beer etc.for take-out.They will also deliver to your room
at Tradewinds.David said they should be open in about a month.
On the third day we jumped on the free trolley to go bar-hopping.We knew all the
names of the places we wanted to go by reading the Anna Maria Island forum on
this site, but we didnt know where they were. The nice lady driving the trolley let us
know where to get off and which way to walk.It was never a long walk, lots of stops
along the route. Our three favorites were the Tiki Hut on the beach at Gulf Drive Cafe,
(A very short walk from Tradewinds) The Anchor Inn,and the Drift Inn,(friendly locals).
The rest of the time we hung out at the beach and the heated pool during the day.
We cooked breakfast every morning, and ate out at some great places for dinner.
Our one regret is that we have about 15 years before we can retire and move to this
beautiful island "sigh"
But we will be coming back yearly until then.
“A Piece of Old Florida Still Exists on Anna Maria Island at Tradewinds Resort”
October 23, 2011 - ames, ia
My family's recent stay at Tradewinds Resort on Anna Maria Island was one of the highlights of our entire vacation to Florida. Tradewinds' brightly painted pastel cottages along with the beautifully manicured landscape and grounds made us feel as though we were stepping back in time. At the same time, our spotlessly clean, well-appointed cottage anticipated our every need, providing every convenience whether we were spending time inside or heading to the beach. Moreover, Tradewinds' unique location provides access to a beautiful private beach as well as a pool and pier overlooking Sarasota Bay.
In addition to being terrific hosts, the owners of Tradewinds Resort are active participants in the community. I know this, because I purchased our two-night guest package provided by Tradewinds in a silent auction for the American Cancer Society's Race For the Cure.
My only regret is that we did not stay longer.
“Very Nice and Quiet.” October 2, 2011 - Hollywood, Florida
Was only here for 1 day because the reservation that was made got mixed up so we got put in the wrong location. Despite that the place was lovely in my eyes. Very peaceful, next to the beach and a very relaxing atmosphere. I am hoping that I can go back here again and I think anyone that books this place will be satisfied if you are looking for a relaxing get away.
Room Tip: Book way in advance of your trip. I heard some people book over a year in advance to get the very nice locations on this property.
“Peaceful, wonderful relaxation.” Sept. 27, 2011 - Bradenton, Florida
This short get away was just what I needed. The rooms were spotless, the amenities were everything needed for a restful, yet fun get away. The Tradewinds Resort is in the midst of all sorts of entertainment. Yet you can be thoroughly comfortable just lounging in the suite or by the pool or on the beach. If you need anything it's just a call away.
Room Tip: This location would be wonderful for any type of reunion. You can stay in your own suite but be very nearby to other couples or family and still maintain your privacy. It's just truly a great place to get away or vacation
“Super Clean, Super Staff, Super Stay” - Sept. 25, 2011 - Bradenton, Florida
What an absolutely beautiful spot the Trade Winds Resort on Anna Maria is. The location is perfect, the staff are helpful, happy, ready to assist with any needs you may have. The rooms are so clean and shiney without the antiseptic smell. The pool is sparkling and just right. It was a wonderful, quiet, restful, relaxing three days of sun and rest. I will recommend the Trade Winds to everyone I know in and out of Florida. What a great place!!!
Room Tip: While you may not need the 2 bed/2 bath #23 Unit it is certainly worth the extra money to have the beautiful view of the intercoastal and the upper deck for early morning coffee.
“Nice and Relaxing” Sept. 16, 2011 - palmetto, florida
Love this place...... Nice and relaxing..... Will be back again.
Room Tip: We had room 19 and it was right near the pool
“Home away from Home! We loved it!!” August 29, 2011 - Tampa, Florida
We loved the cottage feel with a lovely little side yard to grill and a front porch patio. The natural light in the cottage was great - it felt like "home". It was super, super clean. One of our favorite features was the proximity of the cottage between the bay and the beach. My husband and son thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk just a few paces out to go fishing on the dock and we all loved how easy it was to walk to the beach. The pool on the property was lovely, too. We really appreciated the "pet friendly" feature and it truly felt like "home away from home". Our little Jack Russell Terrier was very happy to be welcomed, too. Thank you Tradewinds for a wonderful visit and we will definitely plan to come back as much as we can! Room Tip: The North Cottages are very nice because the front window faces South - so the natural light is perfect.
“A little slice of heaven!” August 11, 2011 - Tampa, Florida
The Tradewinds is a quiet, quaint, clean place to stay. The staff are friendly. The location is perfect near Bridge Street Circle and great restaurants. We stayed here for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and will be back. If you are looking for a quiet Key West Style place to stay without the madness, this is for you! The people of Anna Maria Island are welcoming and eager to please. Thank you for a memorable anniversary.
“Nice and clean” July 29, 2011 - Orlando, Florida
This is a 1 bedroom unit across the beach. They provide all you need to make your stay enjoyable.
“Beautiful resort, beautiful island” July 20, 2011 - Ottawa, Ohio
This was our first, but not our last visit to this resort. We arrived late July 13th and they left a key out,and the lights and a/c on.We were able to check out late on the 16th due to a later flight.Very accomodating, friendly staff. There is about 35 units here,so it feels like you have your own little beach house. No elevator here folks. With the exception of one cottage, they are all ground floor. The pool and grounds are kept spotless. We saw manatees from their private pier on the bay,and dolphins at the private beach, how cool. Some reviewers didnt care for the road crossing to the beach, but it is a really short walk across and to the left. It is only 2 lanes and 25 mph speed limit.I saw a bunch of drivers stop for people waiting to cross.Very friendly locals too.Incidentally most of the condos on the island are WAY across the street. There was a mix of younger couples, older couples, couples with kids and couples with pets.Everybody i talked to there really enjoyed the place.Go with no fear, you will probably want to go back,as we do. Steve and Sandy
“Can't wait to go back” July 12, 2011 - Clearwater, Florida
It was our 6th year to visit the resort. We anticipate our next visit from the time we drive out to go home. I would reccomend this resort to anyone. It's absolutely wonderful. Quiet, clean, secluded....like a little hideway. We have kinda made it " Our home away from home". Look forward to our next visit in the fall of 2011. It's the place to forget your troubles...
“As advertised. Clean with many amenities” July 9, 2011 - Orlando
Our first stay at Tradewinds for four nights was all we anticipated. Single story buildings with 2 or 3 side by side units in each. We had a separate bedroom from the living and kitchen areas and was fantastic (unit #16 North.) Kitchen had all the particulars needed from fixing coffee to a full meal. Beautiful pool and bay waters within 100 ft.; while the sandy beach of the Gulf of Mexico was a short walk across the road. Very quiet at night and the staff were pleasant and accomodating. Having stayed at their sister facility "Tortuga Inn" just a couple doors away, we highly recommend either for your leisurely stay on Bradenton Beach.
Room Tip: Units with the higher numbers are furthest from the road.
“In love with Anna Maria Island/Tradewinds Resort” June 23, 2011 - Ontario
We initially booked for a week in May but added a day on the beginning and three days at the end and we have to say we could barely tear ourselves away. What a gorgeous resort, lovely staff, working constantly to keep things up and that was without daily housekeeping which we opted not to take opportunity of as our dog would not have liked strangers coming in and out. Great to have been able to take our nearly 14 yr. old mostly lab to a place he was most welcomed. He even got to eat with us at the Cortez Pier Fish Market Restaurant!! He was also welcomed in St. Armand's Circle and Rotten Ralph's Pier Restaurant and at the resort by so many wonderful fellow cottagers. Beautiful grounds, tastefully decorated, clean, little cottage with everything we needed. Loved the beach, the pool, the pier for fishing (only thing is it should be open for those of us who like to fish early in the morning or later at night, as access was initially cut off when the pool was closed...quickly rectified thanks to management who left one of the gates open & allowed us on the pier after hrs....much appreciated as we were paying guests after all and love to fish) Take a pontoon boat out for a day if you are comfortable!!! Amazing!!! Rod and Reel Pier for manatee sighting was awesome!! Our dog swam along the Causeway on Manatee Rd. every day sometimes with dolphins! What more can I say except I'd like to come back to #24...our little private porch was delightful...the free trolley that runs up and down the Island was so handy...and the sunrise and sunsets gorgeous. I could go on & on but I won't except to say this is one of the most beautiful, untouched places left on the face of the earth!!!! Thank you!!!
“We love Tradewinds and will keep going back!” June 20, 2011 - Fishers, Indiana
This was the second time we stayed at Tradewinds and we will keep going back. The cottages are beautiful inside and out and are always very clean. The access to beach and bay are just a two minute walk either direction. The staff is so friendly and very accomodating. My husband and I both enjoy the time we spend there and hope to go back very soon.
“Fantastic resort and great vacation” June 17, 2011
Enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. Beautiful island and very comfortable resort with all we wanted.
“A relaxing vacation spot-wonderful room!!!” June 16, 2011 - Wheaton, Illinois
My family and I stayed at the Tradewinds Tortuga on Bradenton Beach over our spring break. We stayed in the unit directly overlooking the pool, which was wonderful! The unit was so spacious, well appointed and convenient! I would sit on the deck with my glass of wine, read my book and watch the boys in the pool! It was just ideal!
The staff was very helpful and courteous. The unit was cleaned daily-fresh towels and other toiletries were refilled-we didn't have to lift a finger!
The beach is directly across the street. Towels and chairs were plentiful-no need to hunt around for a spot.
Lots to do and see-we will definitely return and highly recommend staying at the Tradewinds Tortuga Inn, especially the unit overlooking the pool! Fabulous!
“Total relaxation, outstanding customer service, can't wait to return” June 15, 2011 - Winchester, Virginia
We must say our trip started out less than stellar. Never having been to AMI, but having read what a glorious place AMI was and having a few extra days at the end of a business trip to Miami, we contacted the AMI Chamber of Commerce for available accommodations on the island. It was Easter weekend, so we didn't hold out much hope of easily finding a place. The fellow at the Chamber gave us the name of a member of the Commerce - - we took it sight unseen and upon arriving late in the evening, found it to be horrible, run down and nothing like what their web-site represented, and that's being kind; we stayed one night and decided to find something more suitable the next morning (we shall leave this place unnamed, unless specifically asked). Now on to the good stuff . . we were so fortunate to stop at the TRADEWINDS RESORT. We were greeted in a most professional manner by Donna. She graciously allowed us to see several different cottages and choose the one to our liking; she offered a "walk-in, last minute" discount and explained all the amenities and features of the resort. She also provided names and locations of restaurants and grocery stores. We cannot say enough good things about our cottage; it was so clean and spacious, with a well stocked kitchen and bath. The grounds were lush and beautiful. We were provided with complimentary umbrellas and towels for use at the beach, as well as chaise lounges on the beach, which was a very, very short stroll across the road. The large, clean and well-maintained pool on the bayside was a great place to spend the afternoon reading or fish-watching when not on the beach. There was a nice laundry facility on the grounds, which also included books and dvds. The free island trolley stop just across the road was handy as well. What started as a potential vacation disaster turned into a totally relaxing, beautiful stay.
Room Tip: The three cottages we saw were all very nice.
“Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bradenton area” June 13, 2011 - Shelter Island, New York
Have been vacationing in the Anna Maria Island area for many years and have stayed in four or five different places over the years. Tradewinds Resort is BY FAR the best place to stay. It's very clean, the employees are sooo very nice and helpful. It's quiet and very convenient to the beach and shopping.
“Enjoyed every minute” June 5, 2011 - Atlanta, Georgia
We picked this place for the previous reviews for peace and quiet, amenities;pool, access to beach, dock, and close restaurants. And it lived up to its reviews and more. We liked the cottages with the flowers handing over the porches, the access to umbrellas and chairs for the beach. Oh the beach was clean and beautiful with plenty of room for everyone. At night the place was quiet so you could sit out on the porches and enjoy your beverage of choice. The grounds were well maintained and the people there
were very personable and helpful. Also thinking of having the whole gamily join us for a small family get togther there. Lots of things to do for all ages. Over all we highly recommend this place and will return in the future soon.
“Ahhhh.....a little piece of heaven......” May 30, 2011 - London, England
We stayed here for a few days in May 2011. We had hoped to stay at the Tortuga Inn, but they were full. However, we were not at all disappointed.
The rooms were super clean and the staff were friendly and helpful when we saw them. Even though its a small cottage type resort, everything felt very private.
This is not a 5 star luxury resort....it is a beach cottage, but it was lovely with all amenities you could possibly need including a fitted kitchen/coffee maker/oven microwave, etc.... dvd player and dvd's from the front desk.
They provide you with anything and everything you could possibly need for a fantastic beach holiday including beach toys for the kids, parasols and towels. A great pool and easy access to nearly anything you could need, we had a fantastic time.
I have read ac couple of unfavourable reviews of the resort and all I can say is that we never had any problem and i feel that even if we had, a call to the front desk would have sorted any issue out very quickly. The staff were very helpful and even offered to move us to the Tortuga for a few days when there was availability because they knew that that had been our first choice. We declined, we were extremely happy with where we were.
To all the Tradewinds staff and management, thanks so much for making our short break a memorable one and we will definitely be back!
Room Tip: All rooms are great. You can book with no worry.
“Tradewinds is the Best Pet Friendly Resort Ever!” May 17, 2011 - Tampa, Florida
This is my first time staying at the Tradewinds Resort. and I was somewhat apprehensive and nervous about staying at this pet friendly hotel. I have been told I have an "attitude" but since I am a chihuahua, I know that I expect and deserve the best! Tradewinds did not disappoint. All the people and dogs were very friendly and I felt right at home. I stayed at one of the northern cottages and it was very roomy and very clean and almost like brand-new. All the people that worked at the Tradewinds were very nice and helpful. They even offered to take care of me when my parents wanted to go to the beach after we checked out. I was supposed to go to some stupid pet boarding place but instead I was invited to join my parents. (it was cheaper I heard them say) I made sure I was on my best behavior while being on vacation so I will be to enjoy another stay at the Tradewinds Resort.
“PERFECT, just what we needed.” May 15, 2011 - Norwood, Massachusetts
If you are NOT looking for a fabulous retreat that is quiet, relaxing, comfortable, clean, and friendly with beautiful beaches, a beautiful pool, dolphins swimming by, pelicans flying around, gorgeous romantic sunsets, and a great selection of places to eat and have yummy cocktails all at bargain prices then I'm sorry but Tradewinds on Anna Maria Island is not for you. But if you are willing to leave your troubles behind and visit what we think is a PERFECT getaway that might be just what YOU need then bring your flip-flops, sun block, swimwear and beach hat and we'll see you there because we are definitely going back.
“Exceeded our expectations, Family Friendly, Great Customer Service!” May 12, 2011 - Golden, Colorado
I recently stayed here with my wife and two small children (5 year old and 5 month old). Wanted something quiet, small and not a mega-resort. Friends had stayed at their sister property - Tortuga - a year before and suggested we stay here. It was perfect. Small cottage with 1-bedroom and a full kitchen. Perfect for a 5 year old on the pull out couch and our infant in the pack-and-play in the bedroom. We loaded up on groceries for breakfast and lunch and dinner (only ate out for dinner twice). The front porch was great for coffee in the morning and just relaxing and watching the palms sway. We spent Mother's Day weekend (May 6-10th) plus a few days. The staff was wonderful and always smiling and always making sure our stay was comfortable. Price was reasonable for the island and the location is great. Granted, you have to cross a very busy road to get to the beach, but its worth the short walk. Beach area is clean and far enough away from the public beach that it is not super crowded. Small pool overlooking the bay is peaceful and perfect for relaxing after too much sun on the beach! We look forward to visiting again in the future. Trolley stop right out front and their sister property Tortuga is just two properties down the road towards the Bridge Street District. Highly suggest having dinner at "Eat In Here" down in Anna Maria as well as "Banana Cabana" in Bradenton Beach (just walking distance down past the Beach House.
“Paradise in Earth” May 1, 2011 - Potomac Falls, Virginia
My family and I had a spectacular time there.
We were able to enjoy the gorgeous beach, while staying at a simply amazing place.
We are so glad to have chosen Tradewinds Resort. They definitely delivered a 360 degree hospitality and comfort experience with a wonderful staff, and great accommodation.
There is no doubt we will definitely be back.
The whole experience made us leave already wanting to go back.
We came home wishing we could have made that place our home.
It definitely is a paradise in Earth.
“Adorable and charming” Apr.21, 2011 - Bellingham, Washington
I was very impressed with how clean and updated the units were. The hotel's website photos are accurate and do the place justice. The beach is across the road, but easy to get to. White sandy beach was beautiful. Not very crowded considering it was spring break. Appreciated the umbrellas, towels and boogey boards the hotel provided. Very functional kitchen and Publix grocery store about a mile away had everything we needed. Definitely glad we choose this place.

“If I tell you about a hidden gem, will you promise to keep it a secret?” Apr.7, 2011 - East Lansing, Michigan
Location? Excellent. Cleanliness? Excellent Pool? Awesome. Cuteness/Quaintness factor? I kept thinking Wilford Brimley was going to show up to do a sequel to Cocoon at an updated Florida resort. Size? Perfect, just a small number of units, had our own porch to sit and read, watched dolphins off our own pier, and walked across the street to the gulf for swimming. Excellent food nearby. Had crepes on Bridge street for breakfast this morning, awesome. Will return.
“Quality relaxation with a view, amenities and interesting surroundings.” Feb.21, 2011 - Webster, NY
Our stay at the Trade Winds Resort on Anna Maria Island has been delightful. Our view from our porch is delightful. The great blue heron that greated us on the nearby dock this morning was an unexpected treat. The near-by heated pool is warm and inviting. Our adventures at the Mote Aquarium, the St. Armands Center, and near-by Bean Point have added to the realxing days we have spent on Anna Maria Island. We loved the varieties of casual dining in the area and look forward to another visit to the Trade Winds Resort in the future. The staff has been very friendly and accomodating. We could have not found a better spot for the respite from the cold NYS winter!
“Wonderful trip with my husband and two dogs!”
January 16, 2011 - New Jersey
We had never been to this part of the gulf before so we didn't know what to expect. The beaches and water are beautiful and the hotel was very neat and clean. These cottages are dog friendly and they are a perfect set up if you are traveling with your pooches. The Sarasota, Bradenton Beach, St. Armand's circle area are all very dog friendly with lots of restaurants to sit outside with your 4-legged friends. The pool overlooking the bay was very nice to sit and relax. I would definitely recommend Tradewinds for your next vacation.
“Lovely resort, good location and service”
November 9, 2010 - Suburban Chicago
Stayed there 2 nights with spouse, brother in law and uncle in law in 2-bedroom suite and father in law in a nearby 1-bedroom. Suites are nicely decorated, well laid out, with comfortable beds and nice furniture. Very nice veranda and view of bay from 2-bedroom. Most units face the parking area, which is really nicely landscaped and feels more like a lane than a lot. Was low-season though, might feel different full of cars. There are nice porches with ivy and the units are grouped in three's, with landscaped space in between. The pool area is spacious and nicely landscaped, on the bay with a pier for good fishing or viewing the bay. The water in the pool was perfect. Access to the gulf beach is just across the road and the beach is awesome - wide, long, beautiful. There are fair restaurants in walking distance and plenty of options within a short drive. The service was friendly, reasonable and helpful. A very comfortable, attractive place to stay.
“Loved it”
October 26, 2010
Booked the 2 bed 2 bath (both en suite) unit (number 23) for three nights (plus fourth night free) and found the unit huge and spotlessly clean with all the facilities you could need for a short or long term stay. Spent lovely evenings with glass in hand on the enormous, private verandah overlooking the intracoastal waterway. Located right next to the pool, just in case you tired of the beach, the setting was perfect. No hesitation in recommending this location, indeed we are already planning next year's stay. Very good eateries within walking distance if required.
“Fantastic”
October 22, 2010 - Bradenton, Florida
Everything was just wonderful. Very clean and the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on! The staff was awesome very professional.
“Don't miss this place!”
October 12, 2010 - Columbus, ohio
The best thing I can say about Tradewinds is that it is even better than the beautiful pictures on its website. Perfect location between the bay and the Gulf of Mexico, lovely island with no high rises and chains. Everything you need for a peaceful, romantic, wonderful vacation.
Anna Maria Island has 3 towns (Anna Maria, Bradenton Beach, and Holmes Beach). It is a perfect, idyllic setting with pristine water and clean, clean, clean beaches.
The villas are small, but do contain a separate bedroom and living area/kitchen. Just perfect.
“Perfect Getaway for Friends, Family or Romance!”
September 27, 2010 - Florida
We were lucky enough to discover this place over Labor Day weekend!
The cottages are in the middle of the Bay and the Beach.
Our unit was close to the pool which we greatly enjoyed on one of Florida's hottest days.
Being Natives, we have visited every part of this state and I seem to be on an endless search for the place that meets all of our criteria. I think we found it!
Beach - just a few minutes walk to the world's best beach! - BLUE AND CALM!
Pool - right out the front door - HEATED AND NICE!
Fishing - Dock just past the pool - WE SAW DOLPHINS!!
Family - each cottage has a private BBQ/picnic area
Staff - NICE PEOPLE!!! They let us enjoy the facilities before we checked in :)
Convenience - Trolley stop at the resort to take you anywhere! Don't drive, just ride
Nearby - Restaurants, shopping, music - all 2 trolley stops away
Rooms - Everything you need! Nice rooms, comfy bed, Sofa bed is actually painless.
Peaceful & Relaxing - even on a holiday weekend. it was not crowded or noisy! with the exception of our 2 yr old thinking she owned the place (sorry) Very quiet !
Yes- we were the ones in the pool until 10 pm, swmming with the obnoxious 2.5 yr old singing ring a round the rosie...thats how we party!
Kid Friendly - Toddler was happy! Front desk has free movies! and books :)
This was a last minute- Girls getaway, so our group consisted of ages, 2, 21, 23, 43 and 52 - me, my daughters, my grandbrat and my best friend. (I needed a medical escape)
The girls slept in the oversized bed with the baby and me and my friend slept on the sofa bed. Our room was an end unit with the breakfast bar. I think some rooms are a little bigger than the others. (Ask if you have more than 2 people) Ours was perfect.
The only thing I would change is you cant get to the dock once the pool closes, If my husband goes next time, he likes to fish all night. Other than that - PERFECT
I must admit of all the places we have stayed- this one is the best!
“Loved this place for it's location and charm!”
September 25, 2010 - Hollywood, FL
My husband and I traveled here for pleasure from 9-16 to 9-20 with our two year old son, Jack. We had a lovely, relaxing vacation at this adorable hotel. It was very welcoming and SUPER CLEAN.
We rented South Cottage #24 (1 br/1 bth) and it was really very charming - SMALL, but charming. In fact, its size is one of the only things I can honestly say I would change about it, except for maybe the air conditioning units. The kitchen and bathroom were quite spacious with lots of storage and all of the comforts of home; however, the bedroom was very small as nearly the entire room was consumed by the queen bed. Having said that, though, we managed to fit our son's pack 'n play at the foot of the bed with no trouble (we brought our own with us, but the hotel does offer PNP's for $10 per night) and he slept quite well. The living area was small, as well, but fine for our needs.
There were two wall mounted air conditioning units that definitely kept the place cool. As a light sleeper, though, I found them to be somewhat bothersome since they were loud, but they did not seem to bother my husband. To get around that, at night, I turned off the window unit in the bedroom and cranked the air down on the kitchen/living area unit (right outside the bedroom), so I didn’t have to listen to it. That unit did the job well, but I think quieter units are in order!
We had a lovely view of the bay from the side window in the sitting area and we were located right next to the pool, but just far enough not to have to be concerned about potential noise from other guests (which was never an issue, anyway). Also close to us was the ice machine, laundry facilities (a nice plus, although we didn't use them) and a quaint grilling area (if you like to cook while on vacation ;)
The on-property pier was fantastic!!! It was a long pier, very clean and it provided a lovely view of the bay. My little guy loved running around out there and because it was designed well, with railings on all sides, and gates, I was able to let him roam freely with no worries. HE LOVED THAT! We all also enjoyed watching the fish jump around out there. We hoped to enjoy a manatee sighting, but no luck, for us. Maybe next time.
Tradewinds Resort is in a wonderful location. It sits on the bay, although most rooms do NOT have a view, because it runs lengthwise from the street side to the bay, not along the bay. Across the street, though, about 3 minutes walking distance, is the Gulf. You can’t beat that, especially for the price!
We happened to plan to go just as the rates were dropping. We got a fantastic deal – buy two nights and get one free. Our room averaged out to just $115/night! I challenge someone to find a deal like THAT, at a place like THAT, with a location like THAT. :)
We’ll surely be back!
“The BEST resort on Anna Maria Island”
August 5, 2010 - Bradenton, Florida
The Tradewinds Resort on Anna Maria Island is a 5 Star resort. The service is excellent. The Ambiance is Excellent. The staff is excellent. This resort is is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Island. The location is central to all of the shops and restaurants. It is located on the beach. The facility is immaculate and the staff is there to please. It is the perfect place to relax.
My husband and I stay at the Tradewinds Resort every year for our Anniversary. We would not think of staying anyplace else.
“A really neat place - would go back in a heartbeat!”
July 10, 2010 - Centerville, Indiana
We enjoyed our three-day stay at the Tradewinds. The staff was friendly and helpful; the room was clean, comfortable and well appointed; loved the front porch and view of the bay. Hope to stay again sometime.
“Wonderful”
June 26, 2010 - Bowling Green, Florida
My sister-in-law went for a overnight getaway to the beach. I found Tradewinds Resort while looking for places in Bradenton Beach. What first drew me to Tradewinds were the pictures of the cottages. They were all beachy colors, like key lime, mango, pineapple and sea blue. I just thought they were so cute. Tradewinds was also one of the few in the area that did not have a 3 night minimum stay. They allowed us to come early and enjoy their beach amenities and we were allowed to check in early as our rooms were clean. The room was very clean and so cute. Tradewinds was actually prettier than the pictures on their website. The staff from check in to check out were very helpful and just all around nice people. I would recommend Tradewinds to all my friends and am looking forward to my next visit. Linda Reeves
“Total Decompression and Relaxation within the first hour of our arrival in Paradise...”
May 17, 2010 - Winter Park, Florida
Tradewinds Resort is by far one of the best vacation resorts I have had the pleasure of visiting. The intimate cottage setting was the perfect romantic getaway.
Our experience was one of exceptionally friendly staff and beautifully appointed accomodations reminicent of the Florida Keys. The beautiful and quiet surroundings made for a perfect vacation.
I loved our stay at the Tradewinds Resort. We will be back...
“Comfy, Clean, Quiet with well thought out amenities!” April 22, 2010 - Atlanta, Georgia
This was our first trip to Anna Maria Island and we loved our week stay at the Tradewinds Resort. These Old-Florida effiency units are neatly disguised as a Key-West style bungelows. Well equipped both inside and out. We were impressed by the daily beach towel exchange, use of beach umbrellas, washer and dryers on site, nicely heated pool and lounge chairs on the beach. The cottage was on the small side and the pull out could have been more comfy for the children but it was Clean and Comfy!
I would suggest a 2-bedroom for 4 adults. The staff both in the office and on the grounds were extremely helpful and pleasant. Not one complaint. We would return here in a heartbeat!
“A little piece of paradise” April 21, 2010 - Ringwoood, NJ
My sister stumbled across this little gem on Google when we were searching places to stay in the area. Everything about this hotel is perfect. The location was ideal as it was situated on the bay but across the street from the ocean. We were able to walk to our favorite beach bar, The Beach House and enjoy the lanai in our unit upon our return. It was so peaceful and traquil here that I cannot wait to return with my husband!!
“Simply Perfect” April 7, 2010 - Knoxville, TN
My husband and I have just returned from a great week at Tradewinds Resort. We were there in March 2009 (a trip I won on a radio station) and loved it so much we booked to return this year before we left. We were in Unit 22, which I love because of the great Bay views. The weather this year was cool, but we had bright sunshine every day. The pool is heated (thank goodness) so we were able to swim everyday. It is a short walk to the shared private beach. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available. The office staff were extremely friendly and made us feel welcomed..part of the family. I found all the guests there to be friendly as well and we became great friends with our neighbours too. This year I found the kitchen to well equipped with new pots. We did eat out a few nights and I had a wonderful meal to celebrate my birthday at a local restaurant. Lots to do and see on Anna Maria Island and I hope to return again next year.
“Location offers everything you need, beach, relaxation & entertainment” April 5, 2010 - Northern Wisconsin
Friendly staff, eager to please. Extremely clean facility with very nice heated pool area(no hot tub), quality beach towels provided. Well equiped kitchen. Comfortable hide-a-bed. Beautiful public beach directly across road on Gulf side. Location provides for a great vacation. Leave the car sit, rent a bike or you are walking distance to area restaurants. Free trolly takes you any where you want to go. Things we wished we had, a TV in bedroom, more lawn chairs(only had two for 4 people), they probably would have provided more if we had asked and a hot tub. We will definitely return.

“All the charm, beautiful tropical landscaping, cleanliness, and hospitable staff one could want in a resort.” Feb. 25, 2010 - Cape Cod and Boston
We were guests from mid January through mid February, and frankly based our choice of Tradewinds on the numerous positive Tripadvisor reviews. We would echo those stellar reviews. This is the perfect small resort. It is extraordinarily quiet; the cottages are in the Key West "conch" style, impeccably clean and nicely furnished, and in a perfect location sandwiched between the sound and the Gulf. The staff, especially Jesse and Katy couldn't have been more helpful as well as the housekeeping staff especially Rocio. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer.
“Still Love This Place!” Feb. 24, 2010 - Chicago, Illinois
My husband and I stayed at Tradewinds for the third time last November. Because we love Anna Maria so much, we brough my folks along for the trip. Instead of renting our usual 1-bedroom unit, we rented the two-bedroom/2-bathroom unit overlooking the bay.
It was perfect. The unit itself is gorgeous; it must have been renovated within the last year or two. The views of the bay are breathtaking, the grounds and pool are beautiful, and the beach is a 3-4 minute walk through the property and down the avenue. We also like that we can walk to several restaurants. If you're looking for a trendy hotspot, don't stay at Tradewinds. Actually, don't go to Anna Maria Island. But if you're looking for a quiet, laid-back property in a beach setting, Tradewinds is the place to go. We will continue to return to Tradewinds.
“A little piece of paradise!” Feb. 16, 2010 - Lexington, KY
The accommodations remind me of a tropical bungalow--very roomy, clean, and well-kept grounds. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect--beach right across the street and bay at the other end of the property. Love the pier that extends out over the bay--perfect place for a picnic lunch. The pool area is well maintained and in a lovely setting--more like a tropical island. Appreciated the fact that you could opt to do your own housekeeping and save a bundle on the room rate! Be sure to ask about this perk!
“Good value accommodation” Feb. 16, 2010 - Guildford,UK
We stayed here for 4 nights on their stay 3 nights and get one free deal, which made it good value for money. The cottage was comfortable and had all we needed for our stay. Bathroom was small but we also had living room with kitchen area, bedroom and a large closet/storage room, so it was very spacious overall. There were also 2 chairs outside on the front porch, but unfortunately it was unseasonably chilly, and 2 days of rain while we were there so didn't spend a lot of time outside. Useful to have the guest laundry on site before moving on from Tradewinds. Friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely walks along the beach to the Gulf Drive Cafe, the Beach House Restaurant or historic Bridge Street.
“Great vacation spot with beach and bay access.” Feb. 2, 2010 - Alabama
Tradewinds Resort is a great place to stay on Anna Marie Island and we recommend it very highly. It has access to the bay for fishing, a nice pool, and directly across the street from the beach. The rooms have been remodeled and are very clean. The staff of Tradewinds is very accommodating and made us feel welcome. You can walk to a nice restaurant called the Gathering Place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We had car trouble the day before we were leaving and had to wait for our car to be fixed before checking out on the day to drive home. They gave us a late checkout and couldn't have been nicer about our situation. I would recommend Tradewinds Resort to anyone looking for nice a place to stay on Anna Marie Island.
“Outstanding hospitality & accomodations.” January 7, 2010 - Ft. Myers, FL
This was our second stay at tradewinds. my daughter and two granddaughters, both 12 years old at the time of our last stay, love to visit tradewinds. although linda virgils, a property owner at tradewinds, and a travel agent based in chicago, goes out of her way to help me get the best deal, she received no commission. katie and anitra, receptionists at tradewinds, are very helpful and cheerful. the units are very clean and well appointed, down to the bbq utensils (grills are available at the end of each building). the bay is on the back side and the beach is just a short walk across the street. nice size pool. the pool heather had broken and the pool water was pretty chilly. however, staff did offer to let us use a sister company's pool just two doors down. the free island trolley stops right in front of the property. the girls love walking to the shops and eateries that are close by. very homey feel and great location.
“New Family Tradition” December 29, 2009 - Omaha, NE
We just left Tradewinds this morning and hated to go. We all loved our cottage, close to the beach, very clean condos and friendly staff. We will be back again next year at Tradewinds. The condo was completely equipped with all the comforts of home -- Tv with VCR/DVD player (for those cold days), and the kitchen was stocked with dishes, pots and pans, etc. We could walk to the key shopping area, great dining options and wonderful ice cream parlor(s). (Oma's Pizza and Olaf's Creamery were favs.) The free bus/trolley line that goes all around the island had a stop about a block away. Everything was wonderful and convenient! ;)
“Great tropical getaway for families or couples” December 17, 2009 - West Coast Florida
Tradewinds has landscaped their "little village" beautifully. The pool area was very well maintained and our cottage was neat and clean. The complex is family frendly and very tropical. Tradewinds location to downtown makes access to shops and restaurants easy. The island trolley stopsacross the street. The beach is awesome.
“Paradise!” November 2, 2009 - Martinsville, IN
I love Tradewinds Resort! I stayed there for 5 days in September, on a solo getaway, and loved it so much that my husband and I went back in October! The units are well appointed and immaculate, the landscaping is beautiful and well maintained, the pool is perfect, and we loved going out on the pier and drinking our coffee in the morning and catching glimpses of the dolphins. I can't say enough about Tradewinds, except we will definitely be going back as soon as we can!
“Charm of Florida's yesterday with all the comforts of today” October 27, 2009 - Tampa, FL
When you pull into Trade-Winds resort you'll feel like you've gone back in time to a Florida before cold, impersonal high rise hotels. You'll pull up to the front door of your own little cottage, clean and tastefully decorated inside and with charming landscaping outside. There's a full kitchen, dining area, living room and a separate bedroom suite complete with a walk-in closet. Just across the street is the beach on the gulf of Mexico and at the other end of the property is a pool and pier which goes out into the intercoastal waterway. Sunrise or sunset...take your pick...or watch both. My wife and I go here every late October or early November for a relaxing weekend. You can do as much or as little as you like in the Ana Maria area. At Trade-Winds you'll feel in the heart of it all but a million miles away...almost back in time.
“Wonderful vacation and great accomodations” September 2, 2009 - Miami, Florida
I came back to Tradewinds because I had stayed in one before and loved it. My husband, 2 kids and I stayed in the super cozy and spacious studio (#35) just a few steps from the beach. My kids loved waking up and swinging on the wooden swing just outside the door. The bed was super comfortable, lots of drawers for clothes and hangers in the closet for your convenience along with great room service and beach towels are provided as well, daily. They also give you umbrellas and beach toys for the sand. We had 2 parking spaces in front of our studio just for us and a BBQ grill. I had all the comforts of home while enjoying a week of fun in the sun with my family and I would definitely return and highly recommend it. One last thing, fully equipped kitchen was the most convenient for me with my little ones.
“Tradewinds Resort is Anna Maria Island at its best” August2, 2009 - Celebration, Florida
We are regulars at Anna Maria Island, having vacationed there well over a dozen times. We just stayed at the Tradewinds for the first time, and it is truly delightful. The location is perfect. The gorgeous beaches of the Gulf are across the street to the front, with the rear of the property overlooking the bay, complete with a private dock for fishing and wildlife watching. The individual cottages are painted in happy island colors, with bougainvillea or honeysuckle climbing up trellises over the porches. The interior of our cottage had lovely furnishings, a small and beautifully equipped kitchen, and a bath with elegantly thick towels and the kinds of soaps & shampoos found in expensive hotels. Bearing in mind that this is a fishing, boating and beach community, our room/cottage was absolutely spotless, with not a speck of dust nor a grain of sand anywhere. Part of the charm of Anna Maria Island is the absence of brand-name hotels. When we first started coming to the island, it admittedly took us a while to get used to the funkiness of mom-and-pop hotels with no daily maid service, and the do-it-yourself aspect of renting a house, but we comfortably sank into the laid back nature of things. So, I have to say the impecably clean, beautifully run Tradewinds caught me, pleasantly, off gaurd. I was completely taken aback when we returned from a day at the beach, to a flawlessly made-up and re-stocked room. Being used to other inns on the island, I just wasn't expecting the daily maid service, and quite frankly, it was above and beyond the services found at high end hotels. The housekeeping staff at Tradewinds is second to none, and the care and attention continues to the beautifully maintained landscape and pool area. The Tradewinds deftly weaves together first class accomodations with Old Florida beach cottage charm. It is, indeed, the best of both worlds.
“The Best Vacation Ever!!!” July 7, 2009 - Marion, Ohio
Having never been to the island, we were very excited to get there. We traveled June 2009 and stayed for 5 nights at Tradewinds Resort. We were looking for an economical place that allowed us the option of having daily rates instead of weekly only rates when we found this online. When we arrived late, the office had our key waiting for us and a beautiful, clean 1 bedroom unit. We fell in love with the facility on the spot. You could have it all with a kitchen too cook in, a living area, pool, dock and a quick walk to the best beaches we have ever seen. The staff was very nice and helpful with us and made us feel like we were home. A gentleman that worked there was talking with us one morning about fishing and I told him we had never really done that and he brought us fishing poles and bucket to our place to use for the day. My children and husband had never been to the beach and being a well rounded traveller myself, I found the Gulf to be the best thing ever! We are already making plans for Tradewinds to be our yearly vacation spot. Thanks to the staff and see you next June!!! -- Ohio Travellers
“Amazing!!!” May 27, 2009 - Norridge, IL
I vacationed here with my (now) husband a year ago (April 2008) on our 1st vacation together. We agreed then that we would honeymoon here (and we did on April 19th 2009) and spend some kind of time here every year for the rest of our lives. It is quiet and there is nothing to do on the island except relax, eat, swim and soak up the sun. The staff at Tradewinds makes sure you have no worries. They take care of everything from clean rooms to suggestions for dinner. This is the absolute definition of vacation to us. He is my best friend and there is no where else I would rather be than spending time with him in a place where only we exist. The only decisions to make are where to eat and whether to go to the pool or the beach. If you want to RELAX on vacation, go to the Tradewinds on Anna Maria Island!
“Honeymoon of My Dreams” May 21, 2009 - Indiana
My husband and I stayed at Tradewinds Resort in Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria Island in July 2007. Our villa was exactly as the pictures online promised, and the resort location, pool and bayside pier greatly exceeded our expectations. We traveled by foot and free island trolley during our trip (trolley stop right outside resort driveway) and had a fabulous time. In fact, we still reminisce about the trip to this day!
Having a car on the island might have been handy to travel to neighboring islands and the mainland, but we were looking for a romantic, slow-down kind of tropical experience. We would love to go back to AMI someday and will probably do so at this resort. Speaking of which....
It's not directly on the beach but has private beach access across a leisurely street just steps away at its sister resort. We had no complaints about this arrangement whatsoever! When we stayed we were able to utilize free beach chair and umbrella service throughout our vacation. The villa themselves were inviting and immaculate! The resort literally stretches the width of the island - from bay to ocean.
We made many memories on that trip and were so glad we stayed at Tradewinds Resort. Other than some loud neighbors a couple nights, I honestly have nothing negative to say about my experience with this facility.
“Enjoyed our stay” May 12, 2009 - Iowa
The Tradewinds had no square block feel of just another hotel. They are quaint little cottages, ours was just about right for 2 people but the lving area was a tad small when we settled in for the night. The staff was very nice, the cleaning crew always there and right on time. The pool area was clean and nice. Very charming. Close to beaches, and you could walk anywhere to get a bite to eat or something to drink. The cost is higher than a 'usual' hotel, but you have a full kitchen, and it is nice to be able to make your own coffee and not have to leave all the time when you just want to sit on the porch and soak up that sun. We're from Iowa and we were sure glad to feel that warm air! We highly recommend Trade Winds.
“Fantastic Time” April 11, 2009 - Canada
I won this trip to Anna Maria Island which included air fare, car rental and 4 nights at Tradewind. We stayed 5 nights. We had a one bedroom bayfront unit and enjoyed it so much that we booked to return next March for one week. We wanted the same unit again. The only drawback to these units is that you can hear the people in the two bedroom unit above you walking around and we could hear the toilet/shower every time they used it (especially the toilet during the night). However, we enjoyed ourselves so much and liked the pool, the easy access to the beach that we can't wait until next March when we return
“Great little hideaway” March 20, 2009 - CT
A small well kept quiet resort. Loved the separate bedroom and fully equipped kitchen. It was neatly tucked between larger complexes. Gulf was right across the beach and at other side of resort was a small heated pool; overlooking Sarasota Bay. Enjoyed high speed internet. Would have liked larger TV and an additional TV in the bedroom. Great value for the money. I would think the resort would be best suited for 50+. We did not see or hear any children which was fine with us. Would definitely return.
“Loved Tradewinds!” February 10, 2009 - Mahomet,Illinois
Tradewinds Resort is the greatest on Anna Maria Island, and we tell everyone we know about it and that it is the place to stay. Love the cozy cottage atmosphere; the wonderful, cheerful, helpful staff, and the close proximity to everywhere we like to go!
“Simply wonderful...A family favorite!!!” January 4, 2009 - Ohio
Absolutely wonderful!!! My husband and I have been here several times, alone and with our small child...and have created sooo many wonderful memories at this cozy little resort!
Not the biggest rooms, but with the beautiful pool and beach right there and many fun attractions on Anna Maria Island...who needs to be in your room? Beds are comfortable and rooms are decorated in a tropical, but not tacky theme...which just sets the mood for a lovely vacation! Everything we needed to cook meals was there, which was nice!
The pool is my favorite!!! You can see the bay (boats, fish, birds) all while laying out poolside! The pool is never overly crowded and there are several shaded areas for those who don't want to be in the sun. We have always met the greatest people and families there! My husband also likes to fish on the dock, while I love to take family pictures there!
The beach is a short walk away...and has beach chairs, which is a plus for me! The views are just stunning. We always spot a dolphin or two..and on a couple occasions have seen manatees in the wild. Breathtaking!
Definitely a wonderful place to vacation!!! Debbie at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful!!!
